ankles crossed, elise sat at a table in the midst of a cluster of table, most of which were unoccupied. she was the only one at her table, silently waiting for her 'date' to bring her back a cup of promised punch. he'd been gone a while, though, which made elise almost impatient. surely it didn't take so long to grab a drink, unless the line was long. how the hell was she supposed to know? after all, the punch tables were fixed at the other side of the great hall. elise's elbows lowered onto the table, holding her head up on one open palm. she rested her free arm on the table and picked up a daisy settled in a miniature glass vase in the middle of the table. she twirled the flower, quite carefully, between her fingers until she noticed a shadow hovering over ther table. her eyes slowly flicked focus to whatever was standing in front of her as a smile of relief smoothly found its way onto her lips. outfit

Fred Jr, spotted the blonde he currently was secretly in love with, and smiled to himself. Because of the difference in their houses, he was a Gryffindor, she was a Slytherin, they'd sort of been seeing eachother on the side lately and had come to the dance tonight with a different date, or in his case alone.
He snuck up behind her and pressed a rose into her hand before whispering, "We've got to stop meeting up like this."and laughing quietly he looked around to make sure noone was watching them, though in truth, he really didn't care if they were. He smirked, and hugged her hello when she'd turned around finally.

elise dropped the daisy at his touch and tightened her fingers around the rose as her smile broadened. without checking her surroundings, elise wrapped her arms around fred's neck and let out a gentle laugh. 'i couldn't agree more,' she giggled as she loosened her grip, but lightly ran her nails across the fabric underneath her fingertips. 'the rose... it's beautiful,' elise spoke after a moment of pleasantly looking at fred. 'thank you.' her arms unwrapped and took their place in her lap again, now that she was aware there were other people around. she hated being this way- watching everything they did together, as to not let the other students in on their secretive relationship. elise's eyes flickered down to the rose, then back up to fred as she let her smile weaken. 'so, erm, who'd you bring with you tonight?' she asked, her heart dropping at the thought of her and fred unable to attend the dance together. outfit

Fred shivered a little at her touch, and his grin widened as she hugged him the way she did. Despite their house differences, which in his opinion were a totally stupid reason for anyone to judge their relationship, he always felt that Elise was one of the sweetest and prettiest girls he'd met.
He blushed a little, and running his hand through his shaggy red hair - should have gotten his grandmum Molly or his mum to cut it before coming back he thought to himself- he mumbled quietly, "It's err, it's enchanted. The rose I mean. So it won't die. Pretty flower for a beautiful girl." as his eyes fell on the daisy. Her date had given her THAT? He wanted to laugh, but he said nothing. Just the thought of another guy dancing with her tonight made him absolutely ill, come to think of it.
He'd have to find the guy, and maybe give him a little present in his punch, a puking pustule maybe, then he and Elise could have at least one dance together.
When she asked who he'd brung tonight, a smile came to his lips and he whispered Noone. I just came to supervise the twins make sure no boys get their ruddy little hands all over my sisters. And this certain blonde, who I'm totally falling for, but we can't be around each other."
No sense in hiding how he felt about Elise, and he made it a point to not hide anything from anyone he cared about, to start with.

when fred mentioned the rose was beyond normal, elise's heart jumped, her eyes widened. a rose that would never die? what a thoughtful thing. it was the little things fred could do that made her so enamored with him. both of her small hands held onto the flower's stem tightly, never wanting to let it go. her thoughts drifited, imagining putting the rose into a nice vase when she got back to her room. perhaps even displaying it in a nice shadowbox nailed righit above her headboard. wherever she decided to put it, she wanted to make sure it was on display where everyone could see so she could show it off proudly, even if she weren't allowed to say who it came from. and once she went back home, she already knew she'd place it right on her armoire next to the picture her and fred had taken over the summer that had just passed. collecting her thoughts once more, elise listened to fred carefully as he spoke, her heart swelling with evey word. she couldn't believe he'd come alone. had she not been such an air-head, she would've denied mac adler's request to come as his date and she would've met with fred in private. or at least hung out with him throughout the dance. damn, she mentally cursed at herself, irked by her mistake. 'we-' elise began, her heart half-sunk at his last words. 'we both know what other people will do, whether we want it to or not. the snakes will give you a harder time than they already do for being a gryff...' she continued in a saddened voice. taking a deep breath, elise put a small smile on her face once more. 'i still can't believe you came alone. you couldn't even snag a last minute creeper?' she joked, trying to keep the mood light. outfit

Fred laughed lightly, as he saw that she liked her rose. He was very glad he'd gotten his father to show him how to do that now. He thought about why he couldn't be around Elise at school like he wished, he could see her whenever he wanted during the summer, his parents, his mum especially weren't all that judgemental.
He sighed a little and shaking his head so his hair would get out of his face, he smiled that smile he knew she loved as he looked around and with a laugh spotted several of the students crowded around the punch bowl. He knew for a fact that Gracie had poured at least a whole bottle of vodka and maybe half a flask of Firewhiskey in there, already.
"Yeah, I know. I wish people here were more understanding. I miss not being able to see you when I want. I suppose I could have tried to get a last minute creeper, but they're not as interesting as you are.."Fred said as he looked down at her, and smiled gently.
Elise was just about the only girl to bring this side of him out. He sighed just happy to be here with her, before he continued with a joking whisper, "Hope your date didn't go to the punch bowl love. I know for a fact that Gracie's been here and spiked it already. She always overdoes it. And that group of fourth year Slytherins just poured an entire bottle of rum into it."

elise's lips spread further to show off a wide grin when fred smiled the way she loved. she let a hand free from the rose and took his hand in hers. 'we'll find ways to see each other- through hidden spots and what-not. we'll make it work, just be patient- for me,' she told him, a warm smile firm on her lips. 'besides, if people knew, they'd be jealous they couldn't have anyone as perfect as you,' elise concluded, giving fred's hand a tiny squeeze as her eyes softened, meeting his gaze. her eyes moved to the direction of the punch table, now that a narrow path had opened to allow her to see the other side of the hall. mac adler stood in the middle of the line, towering over people and reaching over a girl to grab the clear plastic cups. 'gracie- i should've known,' elise chuckled at his words. 'hell, if it weren't for her or the snakes, i don't know what else would be keeping these other kids going. if i didn't have you, i know i'd be drinking straight from the bowls just to make it through the night.' elise's eyes lowered to the rose once more before resting on her and fred's joined hands, then continuing up to his face, wondering what was on his mind. he was so protective of his sisters, which was another trait of his elise admired. 'i don't want you to worry too much about the twins tonight. they'll be fine,' she assured fred, giving his hand another slight squeeze. 'you know, sometimes, i honestly think you worry about them too much. it's cute.'outfit

Fred smiled and blushed at the same time, and then with a soft and deep laugh as he shook his head no, he leaned in just a little, keeping his face free of emotions, just for the outsiders that may see them, like this, having a moment, he whsipered, "No, my dear Elise. You are the perfect one. I'm just the lucky git that fell for you."
He was being honest. If not for Elise, his life would be boring, most of the time. His sisters were a source of entertainment, as even though they were OLDER than him, they seemed to land in more jams than he ever dared, but beyond that, he pretty much counted minutes at school, until he could meet her somewhere alone, and spend time with her. It wasn't all physical either. It was the fact that they could talk to one another, and they understood one another.
He nodded and added, Oh, I am and will be patient. Because I really want this to work.
He saw her looking at Adler and had to hide a smile. Should have known it'd be him, as he'd only brung her a daisy, and not the rose she deserved. He scanned the ballroom, smiling in amusement at all the students, and some staff members, who were at this moment well on their way to being blissfully lit when she said what she did about his sisters and drinking straight from the punch bowl.
I tend to agree, love. If not for you and the sisters that make me want to pull my hair out at times, I'd probably have drank the whole bloody thing myself by now. as he smiled at her again.
He wanted to dance with her, but he knew that there were too many in the ballroom, and the gossips would have a field day. So, he watched everyone, for a bit and then commented, "Meh, Gracie, she's not so bad. Pippa's the one that worries me. She's always so careless with the boys she picks. But I do worry about them a lot. My dad's worse though.Sometimes, I think it's a miracle his head hasn't exploded, when it comes to the two of them."

a smooth sigh exited elise, unable to put in words how she felt. so content, even ecstatic to know she was fred's, and vice versa, yet deeply saddened by their complicated relationship. their having to keep quiet about everything that went on between them, even having to appear emotionless around each other was unbearable. but as long as he'd promised to do all he could to keep them together without complications from the other students, elise woudl do anything in her power to do the same, no matter the cost. 'as do i,' elise mused quietly in agreement, biting her bottom lip. she couldn't help but laugh as he spoke about his sisters and drinking the punch himself, but quieted, rubbing her thumb against his hand as he began to talk about the twins. a quick shudder passed through elise at the mention of pippa, her thumb stopping for only a split second before resuming its soft touch. 'i'd have to agree. gracie isn't so bad,' she repeated in a hushed tone, continuing in one much more audible. 'but your father, your poor father. not only does he have two twin girls to worry about, but he has you too! if i were him, i know i would've gone mental by now from all of you.'elise's eyes wandered to the dance floor, filled with merry couples slowly moving to a song with a much softer feel to it. the corners of her mouth dropped slightly, and as much as she wanted to look away, elise knew she couldn't. she wanted so desperately to be one of them, dancing with the person she cared about, rather than being forced to dance with a boy who thought himself to be the 'king' of the slytherin house, nothing more than another asshole who held his head a little too high. without noticing, elise allowed her attention to settle on the dance floor, half wanting to pull fred out to it as to shock the other students. outfit

Fred watched the other couples dancing to the song and wished that somehow, he could have Elise in his arms, out on the floor. But, he couldn't, because they were trying to play it all low key for now. Maybe one day, they could just be together. But for now, at Hogwarts, they had to pretend to either dislike or tolerate one another.
He turned away from the dance floor, and then laughed at what she'd said about the twins and himself. He leaned in, slightly, keeping a poker straight face, so as not to raise any brows and whispered, "This is true. And guess who got into Filchs office earlier, with no magic.? It took some tries, but I got our dungbombs back. From last year, when we were throwing them, and I got caught?" as he laughed a little. One more thing he enjoyed about Elise. She wasn't always telling him to grow up, or act his age. With her, he could just be himself.

as soon as he spoke, elise's attention averted to his face once more, an expression of surprise rippling over her gentle features. 'y- you got them back?' she asked quickly, trying her best to hide the excitement from her voice as not to get loud enough for the other students to hear. 'and, without magic- but, how?' she shouldn't have been half as surprised as she was, knowing fred was more clever than anyone thought him to be. a tiny giggle escaped her parted lips as she tried her best to contort her face as to look as if she were bored, maybe irritated. of course she'd remembered the dung bombs. almost the entire student body had fallen victim to their last-minute charade. then, filch came along, ruining their fun. and fred had protected elise, taken the bomb in her hands into his, then taken all the blame for the mess. the aftermath, cleaning and detentions, seemed to be endless, and every night as elise waited for him to be done, she couldn't help but feel a little guilt for his troubles. 'how could i forget?' she lilted through a dull expression, wanting to smile. 'the whole school was talking about it for long enough. i can only imagine what we could do this year to out-do ourselves,' elise finished, managing to chuckle at the end of her sentence. outfit

Fred laughed a little. His mum having grown up in a Muggle household, he'd learned how to pick locks, from his uncles or grandfather. He knew the news would make her happy, and with a bored expression (mostly for the benefit of the few students who might look and gossip), he continued with, Meh, picked a lock. Then grabbed them, ran like hell.
He watched her face, knowing she was thinking about what he'd done when they'd been caught. How he'd taken the blame, and told her to go. He shrugged, before continuing with, "It's not a big deal, Elise. It was my fault you were there, I mean it was mostly my idea. Besides, it was fun while it lasted. And, speaking of this year, I have a few ideas. Maybe we could meet later, and pick some." he asked, hopefully, though he kept his face poker straight so noone looking at them would guess they were even friends, let alone, together.
He wanted this to work.

to elise, the term 'picked a lock' was foreign, both of her parents being full-blooded wizards. so, when he said those words, her eyes filled with wonder, wondering what it meant. it was surely more difficult than a flick of a wand and saying the words 'alohamora', so it was certainly something that took much talent and skill, something she wasn't too surprised fred would have. her shoulders slumped back as he spoke of the trouble she was thinking of. elise's hand tightened ever so slightly over fred's with each line, wishing he weren't so sweet. she wanted to say some words back- to argue the fact that they'd both come with the idea and she hadn't been faulted at all, but she knew any attempt would be futile. 'of course I'd love to, dear. at this point, I'm thinking we should up and leave without a word-' she chuckled, giving adler, who was finally coming back to the table, a quick glance. 'i know i'd rather be spending my tome doing anything with you than be stuck at this shit excuse of a dance with this- prick.'outfit

Fred laughed lightly, and nodded his agreement. He'd rather her be dancing with him, or even be here with him and not that self absorbed prick she'd come with. He knew that she wanted to tell him it wasn't his fault, the things they were talking about, but he'd done what he felt was right.
As she agreed with him he smiled and whispered "We could you know. When they dim the lights more, we could sneak right out the back."

her eyes lightened, glad fred had thought of that. 'yes,' elise said in a hushed tone, now that adler was much closer to the table by now. 'i say we leave then- as long as this parasite isn't clamped on to me...' as she spoke her last words, she shifted her attention to find mac sitting in a seat across from her. he said something, although she couldn't catch what he was saying because, frankly, she could care less. as he handed her a cup of punch, he looked up at the weasley standing near elise and shot him a sly smirk before turning his attention to elise again. outfit
