Fred Jr. had seen Mac walk over and sit down. But his sole attention was completely devoted to Elise. Besides, Mac wasn't much a worry to Fred Jr, more of an annoyance.
When Elise answered, and she said it was a good idea, he smirked at Mac. Yes, Mac was a parasite, in his opinion. He turned back to Elise and whispered "I'll be on the dance floor. Find me when you're ready, yeah?" and he walked just far enough away so that Mac thought he was giving up.
Standing at the punch bowl, he waited for the lights to grow even more dim, as he glanced subtly from Elise to the exit he'd told her about just seconds ago, ready to make a dash for it.
